Many libraries practice digital preservation and it is a crucial part of maintaining both cultural identity and history and preserving valuable resources. This pathfinder hopes to create a useful resource to help professionals learn and refresh themselves on common practices and techniques for digital preservation and metadata creation.

This pathfinder includes many resources that cover topics from digital and non-digital preservation techniques to digital description through the use of metadata. Additionally, it includes video tutorials and web resources that can aid both professional and beginning preservationists in developing and implementing digital preservation programs. Additional resources include books that cover metadata schema and the standards for use, digital preservation ethics and standards, and journal articles with examples on how digital archives have been created and implanted. Lastly, this pathfinder includes links to a podcast with an interview about digital preservation and the challenges faced.
